Thank you for your interest in our accounting program. The faculty members in our program are committed to an emphasis on teaching and interaction with students. Our approach is to focus on student learning and active participation of our entire faculty with the students in the program. The accounting faculty members at ISU are extremely qualified to prepare you for the future. Virtually all of our professors are full-time teachers with advanced degrees (PhD's or equivalent), are Certified Public Accountants, and have practical business experience. The accounting class sizes are small--no more than 50 students in freshmen and sophomore courses, and usually less than 30 in junior and senior courses.

We are committed to providing students the general education and technical knowledge necessary to enter the accounting profession and to pursue a successful professional career. The field of accounting offers challenging and rewarding opportunities in public accounting, tax accounting, industry, government, and not-for-profit organizations.

Prospective accountants must be prepared to work in an increasingly complex environment. I n addition to accounting knowledge, the successful accountant must possess a broad knowledge of business. Our program will prepare you to enter the real world.  Other essential skills include the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing, the ability to work well with and motivate others, the ability to organize and manage tasks and other people, and the ability to use sound professional judgment.
