Ms. Sacopulos hails from Southeastern Illinois, and joined ISU in 1994 as a member of the faculty and pre-law advisor in the Department of Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences. She served ISU as the Director of Planned Giving and as the Managing Director of the ISU Foundation before stepping into the position of General Counsel for the university in 1999. She has served as Secretary of the University since 2006.
Ms. Sacopulos holds a B.S. in Accounting from Southern Illinois University, a J.D. from Indiana University, and an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University. Before becoming a Sycamore, she was a member of the tax department of the St. Louis, MO office of what was then Peat Marwick Mitchell after undergraduate school, practiced law in Indianapolis with the business transactions group of Krieg DeVault after law school, and was a manager in the Washington, D.C. national tax practice of what was then Price Waterhouse while attending Georgetown.
Ms. Sacopulos has taught extensively in the business school of Indiana University, has taught in both the Department of Political Science and the College of Business at Indiana State University, and has taught continuing education courses in taxation for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is published on the topics of the use of Crummy Trusts in tax planning, the use of ESOPs in mergers and acquisitions, and the consideration of welfare plans in mergers and acquisitions.
Ms. Sacopulos lives in Terre Haute with her husband, Peter, and their two daughters. She is an avid runner, equestrian, gardener, classical pianist, and reader.
