We invite you to schedule a campus visit or an on-site presentation at your school. No group is too small or too large.

Schedule a Large Group Visit

Campus tours can be tailored to meet the particular needs of your students. Enjoy a free lunch (for you and your students) in one of the University's dining halls. Your students will tour (and see and experience) a University classroom, laboratory, library, art museum, and residence hall, and chat with University faculty and students.

Presentations can be arranged at your school with information tailored to meet the needs (and ages) of your students. Possible topics include career options, financial aid, scholarships, and tips for preparing for college.

INFORMATION FOR HIGH SCHOOLS


Freshman Application & Instructions

High school students may apply for admission any time after completion of their junior year in high school. For details on fees, scholarships, housing and dining options, see Admissions Quick Links (top of page).


Advanced Study Option

The advanced study option provides qualified high school students an opportunity for advanced study which earns university credit in courses not available at their high school. This opportunity is primarily for outstanding high school juniors and seniors who have exhausted courses available to them in high school. Students are expected to rank in the upper 25 percent of their class.


Class Visits to ISU Library

Public school classes and groups can come to the ISU Library to conduct research using the library's resources. A Reference / Instruction Librarian will conduct an instructional session. High school students can check out library books (Indiana and Southeastern Illinois Waiver Program counties students). Contact information, pre-visit requirements for teachers and students is available at the address above. Individual high school students can also obtain a borrower's card but should refer to page above for requirements. Individuals under the age of 18 are welcome to visit the Library in the company of a responsible adult.


College Challenge Program

This partnership program enables high school students to earn Indiana State University credit in general education courses taught at their local high school. Courses are taught by high school teachers approved to teach college-level courses. Students earns college credit (at a reduced rate) and high school credit simultaneously. High school teachers enhance their courses and engage in professional development in their discipline. Currently, new partnerships are sought with high schools located in Indiana and in selected counties in Illinois and Kentucky.

Summer Camps

The University offers summer camps for children of all ages in music, science, sports, and other areas. Summer camp information is posted in April for the upcoming summer.


Summer Honors Program

This program enables high school students to explore an academic interest, experience campus life, and earn University credit. All seminars are taught by ISU faculty. Participants may be considered for the Summer Honors Scholarship to attend ISU. Summer honors information is posted in April for the upcoming summer.

INFORMATION FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLS


Discover ISU

This program recognizes the top 20% of 7th and 8th grade students. Students are selected by their guidance counselors to attend this one-day event that includes a campus tour, free lunch in one of the University's residence halls, and academic sessions that explore cultures and various career fields such as nursing and packaging technology. Summer Camps

Twenty-First Century Scholars Program

The Twenty-first Century Scholars Program grants tuition awards to low-to-moderate-income Indiana students pursuing higher education. Students must be in the 7th or 8th grade and meet other eligibility requirements.


Upward Bound

This program is designed to encourage students to pursue post-secondary education in math and science disciplines. It identifies students who have potential to do well in an accelerated math / science curriculum and helps them improve their skill in these disciplines.

Community Music Center

The University's Community Music Center offers community children (and adults) high quality beginning, intermediate, and advanced music instruction. Other offerings include summer music camps, and Musikgarten, an age-appropriate musical experience for children from birth to eight years of age, which includes parental involvement.
