Listed below are services frequently requested by parents and families.

Planning ahead is a key to success. Early application is important to ensure full consideration for scholarships and other programs. High school students may apply any time after completion of their junior year in high school.

For assistance, contact the Office of Admissions. Services include campus tours, preview days, and personalized campus visits for one-on-one assistance with admission, financial aid, housing options, scholarships, and other services.

Families are invited (and encouraged) to attend all events.


Application for admission. Instructions, admission requirements, and deadlines for entering freshmen, transfer, and international students.

Campus tours & visits. Maps, directions, and information on scheduling campus tours or personal campus visits, or attending special preview days for prospective students and their families

Disability services. A list of services and support staff

Costs. Estimated costs of attendance for in-state, out-of-state, and international students—plus information on special scholarships and awards for Illinois residents.

Financial aid & more. Instructions for applying for financial aid and veterans benefits. Apply for aid as soon as possible after January 1, and well before the March 1 deadline.

Housing & dining options. Information on residence halls and meal plans, plus an on-line form to sign up for housing

ISU Laptop Program. Information on the University's Laptop Initiative, including purchasing options

Parent & family resources. Information for admitted students and their families, including orientation programs, FAMILY DAY, tips for parenting a freshman, a handbook for parents and families, and more

Scholarships. Instructions and deadlines for scholarships for entering freshmen and transfer students who are U.S. citizens. Deadlines vary. However, to receive first consideration for many scholarships, apply for admission to ISU by December 1.
