Amber Northam joins ISU as the Clinical Coordinator of Athletic Training Education and Instructor for the Department of Applied Medicine and Rehabilitation. She came from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas where she was the interim Program Director of Athletic Training Education for the last year. Prior to that, she spent two years as assistant athletic trainer for their athletics department and was primarily responsible for volleyball, swimming and diving, and baseball. She assisted in the care of their other 11 sports.
Prior to working in Arkansas, Northam spent three years in San
Angelo, Texas at Angelo State University as an Assistant Athletic
Trainer. She taught for the Athletic Training Education Program as
well as clinically being responsible for the women’s soccer and softball
teams.
Northam moved to Texas from California. She served as a staff
athletic trainer at San Francisco State for two years where she worked
with women’s basketball and tennis.
Northam received her master’s degree in athletic training from San Jose State University in 2004. She holds a bachelor degree in physical education from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego.
San Diego is home to Northam, as she grew up there and her family remains in the area. Her family is no stranger to athletics as her dad is a baseball coach at PLNU and her brother JJ played baseball at the University of Arizona. The entire family are avid hikers and love the Eastern Sierra mountains. Northam lives in Terre Haute with her daughter, Leilani.
