Alternative Spring Break (ASB) is a national initiative focused on creating opportunities for students serve their community in the hope that it will lead to life long commitment to citizenship and community engagement. This initiative was started by an organization called Break Away.
Indiana State University has held an ASB Trip for the past six consecutive years, sending Sycamores all across the country to participate in service of many different types, from working with international refugees to aiding in Hurricane Katarina Relief work. ASB is a great opportunity for ISU students to participate in their national community, and offer services to those who need it most. Time and again participants have returned from their ASB Trip with a new prospective on one or many issues and have even called their experience "Life changing," and we want to offer this same opportunity to you.

This year's ASB trip will be unlike any other to date. We will be sending students to three different sites across the country to work on projects tailored to the type of service individuals are interested in. Listed below are the Host Sites for ASB 2010:

All ISU students are welcome regardless of year or area of study. We will be leaving for ASB on Sunday, March 7 and we will return on Saturday, March 13. With the help of fundraising, we hope to get the cost down from $400.00 to $200.00 per person.
To apply for ASB 2010, fill out an application(PDF) and reference form(PDF)and return them to us at CPSCE in Tirey Hall, room 134A by November 25, 2009. We have begun to interview candidates, so please turn in your applications ASAP to ensure you get a spot.
