Creating an Essay Question

To add questions, log on to Blackboard, select your course and click on Control Panel.

In the Control Panel screen, locate Assessment.  The method for adding questions is the same for Tests, Surveys, and the Pool Manager.

See the tutorial Creating a Question Pool so you can create your questions using this tool and then use them over and over again as you determine is required.

Just a reminder to set the Creation Settings also since there may be questions that you want to add links to. To add an Essay question select Essay from the Add Question pull down menu and click on the Go button.

Add your question text.

The answer box appears next but unless you want to create sample questions and answers you may leave this blank.

Files can be added to the essay question, by clicking on Browse and then selecting the required file to upload. In the following example, an external link has been been added to the question and the name of the link provided.

When finished, click on submit to create the question.  A new screen appears in the Pool Manager and your question has now been created.
