How to Upload a Gradebook

You can download your gradebook and make changes such as adding columns, or changing grades.  You cannot add students to your gradebook, editing a downloaded version of your gradebook is only for assignments and grades, not for changing the student roster.  However once you are done you will need to upload this information to your Blackboard gradebook.

To upload a gradebook that has been edited using a program like Excel, you first need to log on to Blackboard, enter your course, and click on Control Panel in the lower left of the screen.

When the Control Panel screen opens, locate Assessment and click on the Gradebook link.

In the View Spreadsheet screen click on the Upload Grades icon on the far right of the gray bar.

To upload your gradebook, click on the Browse button.

Locate the .csv file for your gradebook, select and click the Open button.

Click on the Submit button to upload the gradebook.

Blackboard will "read" your .csv file and create a list of the columns found in the .csv file.  This is reflected in step one, "Choose Imported Item".  Next, select the corresponding file, or if there is none, click on Create New Gradebook Item.

Clicking on submit will upload the data in the selected column (and if needed create a new column).

You will then need to select the students you wish to import.  Clicking submit will complete this task.

As in most cases, you will see a confirmation that the event has successfully taken place.  Click Ok to continue.

Your new information will now appear in the gradebook.
