School Library Media Services

Non-Degree Additional Licensure

Delivery:
Internet

On-Campus Requirements:
None

Access:
In-state, out-of-state, and international students can complete this program.

This on-line program, consisting of 27 credit hours of integrated library and media courses, leads to additional licensure in school library media services and Indiana certification for public librarian IV. Most of the course requirements pertain to projects related to course-specific proficiencies.

Indiana State University's licensure program in library media services meets all qualifications required by the Division of Professional Standards for the Indiana Rules 2002 license and is accredited by the NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education).

Those who currently hold an instructional license and who successfully complete the School Library Media Services Program will be recommended for a Rules 2002 license. This is not an endorsement but a separate license. Individuals will be recommended for licensure only at the developmental level of their existing teaching license. This is NOT an initial licensure program.

The School Library Media Services Program may also meet licensing requirements in states other than Indiana. Individuals are encouraged to consult the licensing agency of the state in which additional licensure is sought to ascertain compliance with licensing rules. Students seeking to complete the program in international settings are responsible for access to current technologies to complete program requirements. All students are responsible for securing placement in appropriate library settings for completion of program requirements.

NOTE;  Out-of-state students should contact their state department of education certification division for any requirements specific to their state.
