Society for Human Resource Management
The Society for Human Resource Management includes a Wabash Valley Collegiate Chapter comprised of Indiana State University and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
About the Chapter
The Wabash Valley Collegiate SHRM Chapter of ISU and SMWC are proud winners of the Superior Merit Award for the fifth year in a row from the National Society for Human Resource Management. [read press release]
This award program recognizes college chapters for outstanding activities and programs in four areas:
- Chapter support of the professional development of members
- Chapter support of the Society for Human Resource Management
- Chapter support of the profession
- Professional operation of the chapter
The student organization has been successful because the members take an active role and have a passion for their field of study. This passion led the group to become one of the 94 chapters out of 430 to receive this outstanding award.
Purpose of the Chapter
- To acquaint students in HR/HRD with professionals in the field
- To provide networking opportunities
- To keep students abreast of new developments in the field of HR/HRD
- To provide learning opportunities through interaction with practitioners
- To encourage adherence to the Code of Ethics of the Society for Human Resource Management
- To provide job shadowing opportunities
- To provide opportunities for Internships

National Information
The cost to join the national chapter - as a student - is $35 per year. The application for national membership is accessible from the SHRM web site at www.shrm.org. An advisor's signature is required.
