John Boyd Concert Band Invitational - April 2
The John Boyd Concert Band Invitational provides an opportunity for musical growth in a non-competitive atmosphere. The invited ensembles will spend the day on the beautiful Indiana State University campus, perform for a knowledgeable audience, and receive recorded and written feedback from our School of Music faculty and special guests. Each ensemble will receive a clinic shortly after arriving to campus to assess big picture concepts to focus on throughout the day. Following the clinic, students will take part in sectionals led by the applied faculty of the ISU School of Music. These sectionals will focus on concepts addressed in the clinic, as well as excerpts from their band music. Following their sectionals, students will be provided lunch, an Indiana State University campus tour, college admissions information, and a commemorative group photo. During the lunch and campus tour, band directors will receive feedback from members of the Sycamore Band Department and guest clinician. Each ensemble will conclude their day performing for the other ensembles, as well as parents and special guests, in a free concert in Indiana State University’s beautiful Tilson Auditorium.
