Lynette Browne
Lynette Browne is the director of the ISU Community Music Center
and a member of the music department faculty since fall, 2003. She
comes most recently from Newton, Kansas where she was on faculty
at Bethel College and Sterling College. She received a Bachelor
of Music degree in Piano Performance/Pedagogy from the University
of North Texas in Denton, Texas; a Master of Music degree in Piano
Performance/Pedagogy from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth,
Texas; and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of
Miami in Miami, Florida. She is a member of several professional
music organizations including: the College Music Society, Terre
Haute Sigma Alpha Iota chapter (affiliated with the national Sigma
Alpha Iota fraternity), and Wabash Valley Music Teachers Association
(affiliated with Music Teachers National Association). She was a
recipient of the Sigma Alpha Iota Triennial Doctoral Research Grant.
She has done teacher workshops in Texas, Florida, and Kansas and
is a respected adjudicator for numerous festivals. She is also a
volunteer with the Terre Haute Community Theater, serving as usher
and actress, also assisting with the children’s summer theater
camp.
