"Sycamore Hoopla serves many purposes, from being an opportunity for alumni to return to Indiana State to providing fun activities for current students, staff and the Wabash Valley," said Charlie Potts, associate vice president of student affairs. "No matter what your affiliation, all are welcome at Sycamore Hoopla!"
Come early on Friday night and check out Hulman Center's enormous windows, decorated by campus organizations, offices and departments. Winners of the decorating contest will be announced during the game. Prior to the women's matchup with Northern Iowa enjoy the entertainment provided by the Sycamore Basketball Band and the ISU Sparkettes. Test your reaction time on Team Sycamore Racing's reaction time simulator, learn about ISU's Alternative Spring Break trip, and get in the spirit with facepainting. Members of the Big Blue Booster Club will be in attendance with information on Missouri Valley tournament travel packages.
Terre Haute will host its first-ever Polar Plunge, a fundraiser for Special Olympics Indiana, on Saturday, Feb. 28 on Hulman Center\'s south patio in conjunction with Sycamore Hoopla. Walk-up registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with plunging beginning at 10 a.m. To participate, just raise a "bear" minimum of $75 for a daring dip into the pool. Even if you're not willing to take a dip in the pool, come out and cheer those who are!
Former members of the Sparkettes are invited to attend a pre-game reception on Saturday from 11 a.m. ? 12:30 p.m. in Hulman Center. This reception will kick off the 50th anniversary celebration of Indiana State's dance team, which was founded in 1959 by Marthann Markle, who served as the group's director until 1986. Former Sparkettes should contact Tammy Schaffer at tschaffer@isugw.indstate.edu to register for the reception.
The fun and festivities conclude Saturday afternoon with a 2 p.m. tipoff between Kevin McKenna's squad and Missouri State Bears. Current and former Sparkettes will be recognized during halftime festivities.
