TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Indiana State University Symphonic Band and Wind Orchestra will present a concert on Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Tilson Auditorium.
John Boyd, director of ISU Bands, will conduct the Wind Orchestra in four works - Yasuhide Ito's "Festal Scenes," which the group performed in 2001 during a trip to Tajimi, Japan; Johann Bach's "Fugue in G Minor, BWV 578," dedicated to Glen Bainum, John P. Paynter and Frederick Miller; Bach's "Fantasia in G Major, BWV 572," dedicated to famous conductor Frederick Fennell; and Ron Nelson's "Medieval Suite."
Doug Keiser, associate director of ISU Bands, will conduct the Symphonic Band in Robert Shelton's "Flight of the Piasa," "On a Hymnsong of Phillip Bliss" by David Holsinger, Frank Ticheli's "An American Elegy" and Brant Karrick's "Bayou Breakdown."
2009 marks the 85th anniversary of the Indiana State band program. The concert is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the concert provided by ISU's Kappa Kappa Psi chapter.
