“The Baltimore Waltz” at New Theatre Oct. 6-9

September 29, 2010

The fall 2010 theatre season at Indiana State University opens next week with "The Baltimore Waltz."

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6-9 at the New Theatre.

"The Baltimore Waltz," written by Paula Vogel, follows an imaginary vacation of Anna and Carl, siblings based on Vogel and her brother. The siblings embark on a search for hedonistic pleasure and a cure for Anna's fictional terminal illness, known as ATD (Acquired Toilet Disease) which she contracted by using the bathrooms at the elementary school where she teaches.

Directed by Arthur Feinsod, ISU theatre professor, the play aims to address issues of loss, regret and acceptance of loved ones. Vogel wrote it as a tribute to her brother, who died of complications from AIDS in 1988.

Tickets go on sale Oct. 4 and can be purchased by calling 812-237-3333. There is free admission for ISU students with ID.
