Pianists Beverley Simms and Martha Krasnican will present a recital of works for two pianos on Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Indiana State University'sCenter for Performing and Fine Arts Recital Hall.
Beverley Simms is a professor of music, and Martha Krasnican is staff accompanist at ISU. Both pianists have performed and taught at the university for more than 20 years, and are members of the Cramped Spaces Ensemble, a chamber group for two pianos and percussion.
This performance will begin with several transcriptions of Chorales by J. S. Bach, followed by Ferrucio Busoni's transcription of the finale to "Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 19." Robert Schumann's highly romantic and virtuosic Symphonic "Etudes", arranged for two pianos, will be performed in honor of the composer's 200th birthday.
The second half of the program will feature a work by Gabriella Lena Frank, a contemporary composer of Peruvian descent, along with a set of Tangos by Argentinean composer Astor Piazzolla.
The recital is free and open to the public.
