University police officers recognized for life-saving actions

For the first time in its 20-year history, the W. Kevin Artz Outstanding Police Officer Award has been presented to officers with the Indiana State University Department of Public Safety. The Terre Haute Breakfast Optimist Club presented the award to Cpl. Ian Loomis and Officer David Glick in recognition of their quick actions that helped save the life of an ISU professor. Terre Haute native Jill Bolte Taylor, who holds a Ph.D. in life sciences from Indiana State University, has been recognized by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Taylor recovered from a major stroke at age 37. She promotes brain donation for research and education.

Dan Fehrenbach, president and CEO of Bank of Indiana and Mark and Angela Timm of Cottage Garden Inc. have won statewide awards from the Small Business Administration. Both recipients have utilized the services of the West-Central Indiana Small Business Development Center, housed in ISU's college of Business.
