Heather graduated from Indiana University in December 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She has worked in the areas of Med-Surg, Critical Care, Recovery Room, Medicare Part B, Disease Management, and Pharmaceutical. She holds certificates in Clinical Research and Legal Nurse Consulting. Since 2009, she has taught for LPN and ASN programs in Med-Surg, Pharmacology, and Fundamentals.
In May 2010, Heather graduated from Indiana State University with a Master of Science degree with a concentration in Nursing Administration. In 2012, she began employment in the Department of Baccalaureate Nursing at ISU teaching Leadership, Community Nursing and Med-Surg clinical. In December 2012, she received a Post-Master's Certificate in Nursing Education.
She is a student in the Doctorate of Health Science (D.H.Sc.) Program at ISU. Her research interests are Rural Health, Disaster Nursing, Simulation, Technology in nursing, and Diabetes. She is the current president of Sigma Theta Tau International Society of Nursing Lambda Sigma Chapter and has dual membership in Alpha chapter.
She is currently a member of the Morgan County, IN Medical Reserve Corp. (MRC). She is married with two sons, ages 10 and 23. She has a three year-old grandson. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading mystery novels, and scrapbooking.
