Distance Education Guidelines

Although online courses can be just as rigorous and beneficial as face-to-face classes, there are also additional concerns related to time, workload, academic integrity, online etiquette, and personal responsibilities. Please review the Indiana State Distance Education Guidelines established for students and faculty to better prepare yourself for the demands of online learning.

Indiana State Student Services

Indiana State students, both online and on campus, have an abundance of resources and services available to support their academic and student needs. Throughout the Indiana State Student Services resource, you will find information on different university services, including the Career Center, tutoring, counseling, the food pantry, and more! You will also come across commonly used website links such as software downloads from ISU's Office of Information Technology, the academic calendar, Blackboard tutorials, and the Code of Student Conduct. You are encouraged to use these resources throughout your time at ISU. Remember, you do not have to tackle the challenges of higher education alone!

Technology Support and Requirements

At Indiana State University, certain software and technology are required or recommended to help you complete course tasks and activities more efficiently. For important information on technical support and minimum requirements and software, see Indiana State Technology Support and Requirements.

Cunningham Memorial Library
Career Center

The Career Center is available to all Indiana State students. They offer advising on resumes and can perform mock phone interviews. They will assist in post degree employment search and with facilitating internship opportunities while taking classes. The career center wants to help make your dream job a reality. Visit www.indstate.edu/career-center and see what they have to offer you.

Time Management Tools

It may be helpful to schedule time to work on your online course, as if it were a face-to-face course meeting at regular times. Schedule hour blocks using this Daily Schedule Excel Template or your Outlook Calendar associated with your email account so you can concentrate on your course activities.

Monitor your ability to manage your time well with this Time Management Survey and considerations for a needs-based schedule.
