The ISU Bike Patrol was started in by funds provided by a LCC (Local Coordinating Council) Grant. The Patrol started with 3 officers and bikes.
The Bike Patrol now consists of 12 Officers who have over 32 hours of training through the International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA). The ISU Bike Patrol does have a certified IPMA instructor and does conduct one training session a year for area bike officers.
The Bike Officers can usually respond to calls for assistance faster than motor units due to the geography of campus. The Bike Patrol is currently operating on Cannondale full suspension mountain bikes.
