Enforcement

Indiana State University has made a commitment to safety for every individual involved in the University community. The University Police Department is an integral element of this commitment. Whether you are a student, employee, or a visitor at ISU, you will be surprised at the number of ways the Police Department serves the University community. Thank you for helping us in accomplishing our common goal, a safe campus.

The Indiana State University Police Department provides comprehensive law enforcement and security services to all components of the University including the academic campus, University Apartments, and all property owned and/or leased by the University.

ISU Police officers have also been sworn in by the Sheriff of the Vigo County Sheriff's Department, as a result, ISU Police officers also have jurisdiction within Vigo County, which includes the city of Terre Haute.

The Police Department's chief executive is the Director of Public Safety who reports to the University's Vice President of Student Affairs.

The Uniform Patrol Division is the backbone of our Department.

The Uniform Bike Division is a very cost-effective and environmentally sound approach to patrolling the campus and surrounding neighborhoods.

The Traffic and Parking Services Division is responsible for establishing parking polices, parking enforcement, issuing Parking permits, and Sycamore ID cards. The division also keeps the ISU community updated about parking lot closings and maintenance projects.
