The First Year Initiative (FYI) Program extends academic
support to first year students through programs and services.
Programming activities are developed with the first year
students' transition in mind by focusing on issues such as
meeting people, identifying campus resources, time management,
test taking, getting involved on campus and managing
homesickness.
The FYI Program is the total
collection of programs and services in Blumberg, Burford and
Cromwell Halls. First year students residing in other halls are
welcome to participate in all FYI programs and services. The
staff in the FYI areas are dedicated to go the extra mile to
ensure freshmen success. The staff will seek out students
intentionally to provide them with personal contact and
outstanding programs.
The Resident Assistant (RA) lives on
the floor with the residents and is responsible for developing a
healthy community on the floor by: programming, activities,
interpretation and enforcement of policies and procedures,
managing conflict, mediation, providing academic support, and by
serving as a resource to the students.
The Academic Peer Advocate (APA)
lives on the floor or an adjacent floor and is responsible for
assisting first-year students in their academic transition to
Indiana State University by supporting, facilitating and
promoting academic excellence and achievement.
In addition there is an Area
Director, Assistant Hall Directors (AHD) and an Assistant Hall
Director for the FYI program that will be available in each FYI
residence hall. |
