Leaves of Legacy
The idea for the Leaves of Legacy program started in the spring of 2002, when public spaces throughout the campus were
decorated with creative art leaves that turned into a public sculpture garden. This program, “Walk Through The Sycamores,”
was focused on the celebration of art within the community with the Indiana State University Sycamore Leaf as a canvas.
Two years later, in the spring of 2007, the Student Government Association paired up with the ISU Office of Permanent Art
Collection to sponsor Art Attack in which polystyrene leaves were designed by various SGA registered student organizations
and displayed in the Hulman Memorial Student Union. This was an opportunity for a variety of organizations to artistically
express their unique character, creativity and spirit through their participation in this exhibit.
Finally, just last year, after numerous requests from student organizations, we have opened Leaves of Legacy in an effort to
showcase student creativity and provide more organizations the opportunity to inform our community of their presence and to
enhance their visibility across campus.
