Financial Services Careers

During the past twenty years, financial markets in the United States have boomed. Financial markets and institutions are an increasingly important sector of the country’s economy accounting for almost one-fifth of the market value of all publicly traded businesses.

Opportunities for challenging and rewarding careers in financial services are exceptional. Few industry groups can offer the diversity of career opportunities that are available to ISU graduates with knowledge and ability in accounting, banking, finance, insurance, risk management, and securities.

Students with a major or minor in financial services are exposed to educational opportunities that prepare them for examinations leading to professional certifications and designations such as Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). The structure of the Financial Services program at ISU allows students to focus on career preparation in a variety of business professions.
