Theodore Dreiser Visiting Writers Series: Samuel T. Franklin

Poet and Indiana State alumnus Samuel T. Franklin will read his work as part of the Theodore Dreiser Visiting Writers Series. This reading is co-sponsored by the Center for Community Engagement and the College of Arts and Sciences. The event is free and open to the public.

Franklin holds an Masters of Arts from Indiana State University. Currently working as a technical writer in Bloomington, Ind., his poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Flying Island, The Indianapolis Review, HoosierLit and M Review, among others. The God of Happiness is his first book.

Witches and other magical creatures: Gender and witchcraft through the ages

Join us in the Women's Resource Center for a Halloween talk by Amanda Hobson, assistant dean of students and director of the center, who studies issues of gender and the paranormal in history and pop culture.

The topic is "Witches and other magical creatures: Gender and witchcraft through the ages", which will examine the ways that witchcraft, feminism and gender constructions have been portrayed in our popular imagination throughout history.

Tricks and Treats Haunted House

Come out and support Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Gamma Phi Beta's spooky Tricks and Treats Haunted House. All are welcome and candy will be given out to all those who make it through our haunted path! The location will be right off campus at 831 N. 5th street. Adults are $10 at the door and students are $5. Tickets will be pre-sold for $3 in Hulman Memorial Student Union Commons the week leading up to the event. All proceeds will be going to 14th and Chestnut.

Sycamore Educators Day

Sycamore Educators Day provides opportunities for professional development and growth, networking and learning of new ideas and best practices. The 21st Annual Sycamore Educators Day invites students, teachers, staff, faculty and alumni for free to attend. Lunch will be provided for all!

Downtown Terre Haute First Friday

Barnes & Noble and ISU PAW program provide a free event that we offer for students and the Terre Haute Community each month on the First Friday of each month.

This month's theme is Giving Thanks and we will have free pie and crafts to make for different organizations around the area as a way to give thanks.

Please come check out our event and get a map that shows you some of the other awesome things happening at other local businesses in the downtown area, which is just a brief walk away.
