Vigo County Public Schools

There are several local schools, pre-schools, and daycare options for your dependent children in Terre Haute.

Pre-school aged children from 6 weeks to 5 years old are eligible to attend the ISU Early Childhood Education Center, a program run by the ISU College of Education. The Preschool and Infant Toddler programs are located in the University Apartments, and fees are based on income and number of hours children will attend. For more information and to apply, visit Here!

School-aged children who are 4 years old on or before August 1 may attend half day (morning or afternoon) pre-school, and children who are 5 years old on or before August 1 attend all-day kindergarten. The school year begins in August and ends in June each year. Tuition is free, but there is an annual fee for textbooks. If you are staying at University Apartments, your child will attend one of the following schools:

Farrington Grove Elementary School (Grades Pre-Kindergarten-5)

Sarah Scott Middle school (Grades 6-8)

Terre Haute South Vigo High School (Grades 9-12)

To register your child for school, you must present their birth certificate or passport, proof of immunizations (translated into English if possible), and documents showing your current local address (such as your apartment lease). More information about specific local schools is listed on the Vigo County school website and the Indiana State Department of Education website
