Description

The Women's Equality Day March is a campus/community event to commemorate the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment, giving all women voting rights on Thursday, Aug. 25 (Equal Rights Day is Nationally recognized on Aug. 26). Pre-march activities (living history, making posters) begin at 5:15 in Parking Lot G (corner Chestnut and 9th streets) with short program at 6 p.m. followed by march (accompanied by songs of the suffragists) around east, south and west side of campus, ending at Reeve Hall near Readers sculpture and short program with refreshments.

A tram is available for persons unable to walk the full route. Attendees are invited to bring women's personal hygiene items to donate to local shelters. Cash donations to support the march and related activities by businesses and individuals help fund the event.

Co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters, ISU Office of the President, ISU Community Engagement, Girl Scouts and others.

Voter registration information will also be available.
