Dr. Hanson is an Assistant Professor of Spanish and specializes in Spanish American Literature and Culture.  He received his Ph.D. from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana in 2014.  He holds a Master of Arts degree in Spanish from Brigham Young University and a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Literatures, Magna Cum Laude, from California Polytechnic State University - San Luis Obispo. Dr. Hanson has spent significant time abroad in Spanish-speaking countries.  During his doctoral work at Purdue, he lead a study abroad and internship program for two summers in the beautiful city of Cartagena, Colombia.  Dr. Hanson has lived for a total of two years in Chile.  He first went to Chile for a summer internship and later returned to live and teach English for more than a year.  His passion for the Spanish language and Latin American culture first began while representing a non-profit organization in Peru for two years.  Dr. Hanson loves spending time with his family, traveling  the world, hiking, enjoying nature, and relaxing on California's beaches.  He joined the ISU faculty in 2014.
