Info Session for Transition Mentors

The Transition Mentor position is an outstanding opportunity to meet and mentor a diverse, dynamic group of individuals in order to help prepare them for their experience at State. Transition Mentors are essential in helping to facilitate the adjustment of new students to the ISU community. Mentors play a key role in the transition of new students through summer communication, State Orientation and State Welcome. 46th Annual ISU Jazz Festival: Jam Session

Please join us for the 46th Annual ISU Jazz Festival featuring Philly Legend Larry McKenna; Larry has played with many of the greatest artists of the jazz world including Woody Herman, Clark Terry, Buddy DeFranco, Rosemary Clooney, Jimmy Heath and Jon Faddis. Most notably, he has also recorded with Randy Brecker, Kenny Barron, Wynton Marsalis, and Frank Sinatra! ALL are welcome to play or listen! Bring an instrument or your voice to sit in on tunes with one of Philadelphia's finest jazz musicians!

Spring Career Fair

The Spring Career Fair provides an opportunity for students and alumni to interact with representatives across all areas of study who could be recruiting for: Full-time positions, Internships, Job shadow opportunities, Part-time and seasonal jobs, and Graduate and professional programs. While interacting and networking with companies, students and alumni will learn about specific organizations, discuss what opportunities are available, and receive direction about the next steps to take in the application process.

Tech Connections

Students are invited to Tech Connections, a networking event with technology-related companies. Connection: A Tech Networking Night provides an opportunity for students to interact with representatives across technology-related fields who could be recruiting for: Full-time positions, Internships, Job shadow opportunities, and Part-time and seasonal jobs.

One in 4 Pledge Workshop

The 1 in 4 Pledge asks faculty to make a commitment to have 1 substantive assignment (or equivalent) in the first 4 weeks of class for Fall 2020. Student success in the classroom can be supported by meaningful work early in the semester. Teaching and learning opportunities which occur prior to the interim grade period will allow students to clearly understand their progress in each course.

Jewelry Making Class!

Community School of the Arts jewelry class introduces you to a few processes of making interesting metal jewelry. Students will learn how to cut out their earring from a flat metal sheet, texture the metal, use a dapping block to achieve a curved surface and they can optionally create a bead dangle. Students will also learn how to use a few different hand tools for working with small metal wires and jump rings, and hand dexterity is crucial. All supplies will be provided. Feel free to bring any interesting beads that you may want to add to your earrings. No experience necessary.
