Join the Career Center for the first Level Up workshop of the semester, Connecting with the Community as a Young Professional facilitated by Jessica Starr, program coordinator for the Center for Community Engagement. Snacks provided. Workshop description: Community service is part of being a Sycamore. How will your service involvement now, help you with post-graduation? This session will help you identify transferable skills, understanding the importance of being an active citizen, and networking. Questions?
United Campus Ministries will sponsor its annual barbecue dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 301 N. Seventh St., Terre Haute. The dinner will feature pork barbecue sandwiches, baked beans, coleslaw, potato chips, applesauce and beverages. Including coffee, tea and lemonade. Barbecue chicken, hot dogs and veggie trays will also be available. Tickets are $10. Admission is only $5 for college students with IDs and for children under 6. Donations will be accepted for desserts.
Middle of the semester means quizzes, tests, and more before mid-term grades. But it's not the end of the semester and you still have a chance improve your grade in class. Participants will share the secrets to getting back on track and finishing the semester strong. At Indiana State University, there is a population of students and faculty members who are unable to learn and discuss the suicide epidemic. People are afraid to talk about it in fear of being judged or being ridiculed by others. In this program, people will have a safe environment to learn, listen, and discuss statistics, stories, experiences with suicide. In this space, it will be enforced that we will be tearing down the stigma of discussion of this heartbreaking epidemic. September 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day.
