Description

In spring 2019 the Faculty Senate and Office of the Provost established a Faculty Ombuds Office - the purpose of which is to offer confidential and impartial counsel to faculty members at ISU who face professional challenges. Dr. Carrie Ball (Professor – Department of Applied Clinical and Educational Sciences) was selected as the first Faculty Ombuds at ISU. AAUP ~ ISU Chapter is pleased to host her in a forum where she will explain the principles of Ombuds-ship and her plans for further developing this important new agency on campus. The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) is the premier national organization that advocates for academic freedom, shared governance and the wellbeing of academia in general.

 

Goals of AAUP include: Defense of academic freedom and shared governance. Development and promotion of best practices in higher education. Promoting economic security for all those engaged in higher education teaching and research. Ensuring higher education contributes to the common good.
