An Evening of Romantic Music

Plan to celebrate Valentine's Day with the THSO. Revel in the beauty of, perhaps, the most romantic piece ever written, Rachmaninoff;s Symphony No.2. (This is the source of the beautiful melody, "never gonna fall in love again," which is even richer and more emotional in the Rachmaninoff original.) Our soloist's gorgeous mezzo-soprano voice is perfect for a variety of love songs, and we will begin with Gershwin's toe-tapping music from the musical Girl Crazy. It will be a night of romance to remember!

Brahms 4 and a Trumpet Concerto

Principal Trumpet and audience favorite Rob Waugh brings to life Hummel's Trumpet Concerto- one of the most beautiful, lively and appealing pieces written for trumpet and orchestra. Following last season's performance of Karidoyanes Café Neon, David Bowden had so manyt requests for more from this composer that he immediately scheduled Yerakina, another musical explosion of Greek song and dance. Brahms' Symphony No. 4 is an acknowledged masterpiece, the last orchestral work of this supremely gifted composer.
