New college awaits new students

When new students arrive at Indiana State University this fall, some will live in a newly renovated residence hall while others will enjoy a new gym floor in the university arena.

But the new offering on the Terre Haute campus that is expected to have the most impact on their futures is a new college set up to ensure a smooth transition to higher education and help them stay on track to graduation.

Gilbert Wilson Mural Dedication

Indiana State University art students, working with two professional artists with ties to Terre Haute, have finished the latest Gilbert Wilson Memorial Mural Project. The latest mural, which celebrates the role the Wabash River plays in the community, will be dedicated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3.

The mural was completed as part of the 2013 Year of the River initiative and the College of Arts and Sciences’ Community Semester Series. The project was funded through Indiana State University’s Strategic Plan “Energize Downtown” initiative and the Center for Community Engagement.

All Campus Student Success Conference

While recently traveling to Europe, Lindsey Yeager was surprised to learn that a fellow traveler in her group was unaware that the Statue of Liberty was a gift to the U.S. from France.

The Statue of Liberty replica that the group saw while in the European nation served as one of many lessons in a trip intended to familiarize them with the unfamiliar.
