Submission Guidelines
Issue 4: Nature in Crisis (Fall 2023)
Our fourth issue will be a thematic issue featuring poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. The submission period will be from November 15 to December 10, 2023.

Plane Tree is a biannual online journal based at Indiana State University and run by faculty and students in creative writing. We accept .doc, .docx, or .rtf attachment to planetreejournal at gmail dot com. We can only accept submissions by email. Please share with us 3-5 poems or prose works (fiction or creative nonfiction) of no more than 3000 words. Also include a brief bio of 100 words or fewer with submissions.
Plane Tree encourages simultaneous submissions. If your work is accepted somewhere else, let us know as soon as possible by sending us an email with “WITHDRAW: Last Name, Title” as the subject line.
We endeavor to read all submissions as soon as possible, but please allow 90 days for a response. If you have not heard back from us by then, please send us a query email with “QUERY: Last Name, Title” as the subject line.
Once you hear back from us, please wait until the next submission period to send us more work.
Plane Tree asks for first-time publication rights and acknowledgment as first place of publication. We will also archive published work on our website.
We regret that we cannot consider work from current Indiana State University students and employees and alumni who have graduated within the last three years.
