8 Sisters of Providence celebrate Senior Jubilees

In 2018, eight Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods celebrated 60 years in the congregation.

60-year Jubilarians include:

Sister Brigid Ann Bonner, a Whiting native, entered the congregation in 1958, and professed final vows in 1965. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in education.

Sister Donna Butler, a Fort Wayne native, entered the congregation in 1958, and professed final vows in 1965. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in education. In the archdiocese, she ministered as a teacher in Terre Haute at St. Ann and as a religion coordinator/parish assistant at St. Ann, and at St. Mary-of-the-Woods in various capacities. Currently, she ministers as a social justice advocate.

Sister Patricia Fillenwarth, a Indianapolis native, entered the congregation in 1958, and professed final vows in 1965. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in education and from Indiana State University with a master’s degree in education.

Sister Linda Kaliker, formerly Sister Marie Theodore, a Fort Wayne native, entered the congregation in 1958, and professed final vows in 1965. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in education. In the archdiocese, she has ministered at St. Mary-of-the-Woods in various capacities. Currently, she ministers in prayer.

Sister Katherine Manley, an Indianapolis native, entered the congregation in 1958, and professed final vows in 1965. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in pastoral theology. In the archdiocese, she has ministered as a teacher in Terre Haute at St. Margaret Mary, and at St. Mary-of-the-Woods as the administrator of Owens Hall. Currently, she ministers in departmental ministry at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Sister Gloria Memering, a Vincennes native, entered the congregation in 1958, and professed final vows in 1965. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in music education, and from Indiana State University with a master’s degree in music education. In the archdiocese, she has ministered in Terre Haute as a teacher at St. Benedict and at St. Margaret Mary, and at St. Mary-of-the-Woods in various capacities. Currently, she ministers as a receptionist at Providence Spirituality and Conference Center, and as a music coordinator at Providence Health Care, both at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Sister Rosemary Schmalz, an Evansville native, entered the congregation in 1958, and professed final vows in 1966. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, as well as a master’s degree in pastoral theology. In the archdiocese, she has ministered at St. Mary-of-the-Woods in various capacities, including as a teacher at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Currently, she ministers as the coordinator of the office of records at the congregation.

Sister Rosemary Ward, a Chicago native, entered the congregation in 1958, and professed final vows in 1966. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in biology. In the archdiocese, she has ministered as a registrar at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
