Meet freelance journalist Jeremy Patterson

Thursday, August 6, 2020 - 10:02

Jeremy Patterson is a freelance journalist who started writing for the Kavanagh newspapers earlier this summer. Originally from Terre Haute, Ind., Patterson earned his degree in Communications with a focus in journalism at Indiana State University (ISU) in 2018. He also was a member of the ISU football team, having worked his way up from a walk-on player to earning a full-ride scholarship.

Patterson’s newspaper experience includes stints at The Prairie Press in Paris, Ill., The Tribune Star and The Statesman in Terre Haute.

In January 2020, he moved to southern Alberta to start a job at a newspaper and to be closer to his girlfriend (a native Albertan). However, when COVID-19 hit and the world’s longest border closed to non-essential travel, he was forced to relocate back to the United States.

His first stop was Cut Bank. He has since made himself a home here, working full-time at Albertsons and freelancing for the Kavanaghs’ combined weekly publication.

“I have enjoyed the opportunities provided to me through this time and I look forward to continuing to provide exciting content for the readers of this newspaper,” said Patterson.
