Bio:

Patti Dreher is an Instructor for the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science at Indiana State University. She is also the College Challenge Liaison for dual credit courses with area high schools, Director of the Summer Math Refresher Courses, and Coordinator of Pi Day festivities at ISU.

Patti became interested in education while substitute teaching in her local school system. When her children were old enough to attend school, she enrolled at ISU as a commuter student. After graduating with a major in Mathematics Teaching and a minor in Computer Science Teaching, she started her graduate studies at Indiana State University. She worked as a graduate assistant for 2 years before teaching at North Vermillion Jr./Sr. High School. Patti taught at the rural school for 20 years. She was able to complete her masters during that time. While working at North Vermillion, Patti began teaching at Ivy Tech Community College in the evenings. She finally resigned her job at NV to teach full time at Ivy Tech Community College. After 2 years there, she came to Indiana State University where she currently teaches.

Patti was able to work at various jobs on campus while she was a student at Indiana State University. The staff was very helpful and played a great part in her success. Working while taking classes, along with financial help from family members, enabled her to finish her education without the need of student loans. Patti also tutored and continued to substitute teach while taking classes. This can be very helpful for anyone working on a degree in education.

Patti and her husband reside on a hobby farm with dogs, cats, horses, Texas Longhorn cattle, and a miniature donkey. She has two children and two grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family & pets. She also loves teaching and helping students succeed.
