Family ties to ISU: None

I chose to attend ISU because… Whether or not he knew it, Dr. Eddie Ludema, the trumpet professor here at ISU, left a great impression on me when I came to visit to participate in the honor bands and play my audition. He was the deal-maker! I knew that I would want to invest my next four years under his guidance and direction.

When I have free time, I like… to listen and play music, visit family, run, read, fish, hike, and participate in just about any outdoor recreational activity out there.

My favorite places on campus to study are… the library and the practice room!

My favorite professor is… I guess it depends on the day. It has to be a tie between Dr. Ludema, Dr. Terry Dean, and Professor Kelly Fallon: three role models who are truly helping me shape my future and career in music.

If I could share an afternoon with anyone, I would love to share it with… Fred Rogers.

If I knew I could not fail, I would… travel to every country in the world and then write a book about it, sell that book, get rich, and do it again!

After graduation, I plan to… go to graduate school to earn a doctorate in musicology.

The one ISU experience I will always remember is/will be… playing Bongo Divertimento (by Gene Gutchë) with the University Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Erik Rohde.

If I knew then what I know now, I would… plan out my day and stop procrastinating.

If I could serve as a mentor for future ISU music students, I would tell them/suggest that they… you need to always be motivated intrinsically, because at many points in your life you will be either discouraged by others’ progress or have an absence of competition altogether. The true motivator is your own potential, which is virtually limitless.
