Like it or not, social media is part of our everyday lives and is increasingly used by employers in their hiring process.  The first part of the social media presentation walks students through employer's use of social media, common myths, and ways to protect themselves.  The second part of the presentation covers what LinkedIn is, how to build a profile, and how to use it to connect with professionals.

Getting a full time job/internship is a job in itself, as the search for recent graduates is still very competitive.  This job/internship search presentation covers the steps for conducting a successful search, including when to start and how to create a timeline, and the variety of online job/internship boards and resources available to students.  Analyzing job descriptions, evaluating employers, networking, and salary research are also covered briefly.

Learn and practice important networking and dining skills that will help you be successful in your career! Local employers talk with students about how to effectively network, focusing on four topics: using social media in your job search; interviewing tips; proper dress; and professional communication. Students are provided with personalized business cards and given the opportunity to network with one another and the employers, while exchanging their business cards.
