Rebecca McGuire is the current Professor of Oboe at Indiana State University’s School of Music, recently joining the faculty in Fall of 2022. A prominent performer throughout Indiana, Rebecca serves as the Principal Oboist of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Oboist of the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra.

Known for her sincere artistry and expressive prowess, Rebecca has performed as a soloist, orchestral musician, and chamber musician for audiences around the world. Her collaborations in chamber music have included guest artist performances at the Juneau Jazz and Classics Festival in Alaska, American Music Festival in North Carolina, Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival in Korea, NOLA Chamberfest, and Chamberfest Brown County with Futaba Niekawa. She made her debut as an international soloist in 2018, performing Telemann’s Oboe Concerto in F minor and the Samuel Barber Canzonetta for Oboe and Strings with the Freies Kammerorchester Köln, Ensemble 07 under the direction of award-winning violinist and Baroque specialist, Stephan Schardt in Cologne, Germany.

Prior to joining the faculty at ISU, Rebecca was the Instructor of Oboe at Western Illinois University from 2020-2022, and currently maintains an expansive private studio of oboe students in the Southern Indiana and Indianapolis regions.

An Illinois native, she completed her undergraduate in Oboe Performance at Western Illinois University, after which she earned a Master's degree in Oboe Performance from The University of Texas at Austin. She then continued her studies as a doctoral student in Oboe Performance at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where she studied with oboists Roger Roe of the Indianapolis Symphony and renowned oboe pedagogue, Linda Strommen.
