Indiana State music graduates have distinguished themselves in a variety of ways. Many are outstanding teachers in public schools, colleges/universities and private studios while others have achieved recognition in such specialized areas as music business and performance. Welcome to Dr. Peggy Moran, Director of the School of Music

We would like to welcome Dr. Peggy Moran, the new Director of the School of Music! Dr. Moran joins ISU from the University of Central Oklahoma School of Music, where she was Assistant Director. She is also the Executive Director at Cormont Music, a non-profit organization that runs the Kendall Betts Horn Camp, a premiere summer learning program for horn players in New Hampshire. Dr. Moran has performed in orchestras, chamber music, and solo recitals with leading ensembles such as the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Louisville Orchestra, and the Oklahoma City Philharmonic. Committed to commissioning and performing music from a diverse set of composers, she founded the group Corni Angelicus, an ensemble of four horns and a rhythm section that has performed new music throughout the Midwest. Dr. Moran has a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Chicago, and Master of Music and a Doctorate of Music degrees from Indiana University Bloomington.

Notice of Faculty Vacancy

The School of Music is seeking a Professional Musician-Private Teacher/Percussion Instructor. A completed Doctorate (or ABD status) in Music Percussion Performance or related music field is preferred and a Master’s degree is required. The candidate must have a record of success in teaching collegiate level percussion students and percussion/steel drum ensembles. Screening begins July 24 and the position begins August 15, 2024. Leadership with Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser - August 25

Join us for an exciting event featuring the renowned leadership expert, Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser. This in-person event provides an opportunity for young high school musicans and music educators to explore concepts of leadership in a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere. Guests will spend part of the day on the beautiful Indiana State University campus and work with guests, Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, Executive Director of Attitude Concepts, Inc., and Mr. Randy Greenwell, retired Director of Bands at Lawrence Central High School.
