About the Play

Featuring six original dance pieces, the 2024 Dance Recital features choreography that emerged from dance courses offered in Spring 2024. With large groups to solo pieces, the recital has a range of styles from musical theater to modern dance.

Devised Theater is a process in which a group creates all aspects of a production based on a concept; this year's piece is called "The Podcast Chronicles." “The Podcast Chronicles” is a riveting one-act play that explores the intersection of true crime, podcasts, and the human fascination with crime as a form of entertainment. The play weaves various facets of crime consumed as entertainment: true crime podcasts, television/radio shows about crime, social media, and more. The play also grapples with the ethical implications of consuming crime and death as entertainment, prompting both the characters and the audience to question their own morbid curiosities, leaving the audience to ponder the enduring human fascination with the macabre. This one-act play is a thought-provoking exploration of crime, history, media, and mortality. WARNING: This play contains mature content, including death, violence, and crime. This production contains haze/fog, flashing lights, and loud noises.

Wait List

When a performance is sold out, we start selling “standby” tickets one (1) hour before each performance in person, at the theatre box office only. If someone with seats for the performance doesn’t show up by show time, a Standby Ticket holder takes their place in the theatre. You must pay for your ticket to be put on the waiting list. If there are not enough cancellations or no-shows at curtain time for you to be seated, we’ll immediately issue a refund of your “Standby” ticket or help you select another available performance of the same show. Each member of your party must be present (or near the lobby) when your name is announced, or your “Standby” ticket will be immediately refunded and the next patron on the list will be announced.

FAQs

Can I exchange my tickets for another date of the same show?

Yes! Please e-mail isu-theater@indstate.edu or call (812) 237-3333 and we will be happy to make the change.

Can I change my tickets to a different show?

No. Tickets can only be changed to a different date for the same show.

Does my infant need a ticket?

Yes, everyone needs a ticket. Even if a small child will sit on your lap, the Fire Marshall counts them as a person occupying our space.

How good are my chances of getting in using the Wait List?

It just depends on where you are on the list and how many people don’t show up for the show. We make no guarantees, but there are usually a few no-shows at each performance.

Can I get on the Wait List earlier than one (1) hour before the show I'm trying to attend?

No. At some performances, patrons might line up outside earlier than 1 hour, but will not be permitted to sign up until the lobby doors open.

Can I buy a Wait List Ticket, leave to eat dinner, and come back?

You can, but we don’t recommend it. If you’re not present when your name clears the Wait List, you forfeit your place in line.

Who Can I E-mail or Call With Questions About the Wait List?

If you have questions about our Wait List / Standby Tickets / Cancellations, please e-mail isu-theater@indstate.edu or call (812) 237-3333. But…please don’t ask to be added to a wait list by phone, e-mail, or in advance…we simply cannot do it, and it makes our theatre ghosts very sad.
