Checklist for Applying to the School Counseling Program

4. Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended are also sent to Graduate Studies.

5. Current professional resume/vita, upload with application.

 

Supplemental Questions: Applicants must write a statement emphasizing those life experiences that are relevant to their degree program. In a typed paper, the applicant must answer the questions below:

1. Why do you want to be a professional school counselor?

2. What critical incidents in your life have most influenced your wanting to pursue your career goal?

3. What qualities do you believe will enable you to be successful in your career, and what strengths do you believe will help you achieve your academic and professional goals?

4. Please feel free to include other information that you think will help the admissions committee.

 

Deadline: All application materials should uploaded/sent to Graduate Studies by December 1st in order to be guaranteed full consideration. Applications received after January 15th will be considered if openings are available.

 

Personal Interview: The admissions committee screens applications as they are received to select applicants for a campus interviews, typically scheduled during February. Telephone/Zoom interviews will be conducted for applicants who are unable to come to campus. Participation in the interview process is required for an offer of admission.

 

*Admission Criteria: All applications are subject to admissions criteria outlined in the ISU Graduate Catalog and on the department of ACES website. Admissions are made on a selective basis. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.
