Cybersecurity Gamified Learning

Cybersecurity games and activities are a great way to learn cybersecurity in a gamified learning environment which makes it fun and exciting. The following is a list of free cybersecurity games and activities that do just that. These types of activities are also used in courses within the cybersecurity program at Indianan State University to help students learn by way of earning extra credit or in lab activities.

CyberStart Go, is a chance to experience life as a cyber security professional!

DoD Cybersecurity Awareness Challenge course provides an overview of cybersecurity threats and best practices to keep information and information systems secure. Every year, authorized users of the DoD information systems must complete the Cyber Awareness Challenge to maintain awareness of, and stay up-to-date on new cybersecurity threats. The training also reinforces best practices to keep the DoD and personal information and information systems secure, and stay abreast of changes in DoD cybersecurity policies. Other agencies use the course to satisfy their requirements as well.

PBS Cybersecurity Lab - Take cybersecurity into your own hands. In this Lab, you’ll defend a company that is the target of increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks. Your task is to strengthen your cyber defenses and thwart the attackers by completing a series of cybersecurity challenges. You’ll crack passwords, craft code, and defeat malicious hackers.

Living Security - Creates Online team-based training on Cybersecurity that creates an engaging gamified experience for all levels of employees.

Cybersecurity Knowledge Quiz - how much do you know about cybersecurity.

The Weakest Link - Any organization is only as secure as you, play this game to prove it.

Cybersecurity Jeopardy - Learn cybersecurity concepts jeopardy style.

Data Center Attack - A choose your own adventure style game where you play the role of a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) making decisions for a hospital. Game starts out with a worst  case scenario and then rolls back time so you can play the main character as they attempt to setup security for the hospital.

picoCTF is a free computer security game with original educational content built on a capture-the-flag framework created by security and privacy experts at Carnegie Mellon University.

 

Interland is an adventure-packed online game that puts the key lessons of digital citizenship and safety into hands-on practice.

 

University of Texas A&M - Each year, the Texas A&M Division of Information Technology creates a campus-wide IT security game for National Cyber Security Awareness Month. Each game is designed to be fun and engaging, while educating students, faculty and staff about how to be safe online.

 

Choose Your Own Adventure Security Awareness - Zombie Invasion  Zombie Invasion - Transform traditional employee training into a world of fun and fantasy where your learners face security scenarios and make decisions that shape their training experience. Enter an Email and play the game and provide screenshots along the way og questions you are asked and your answer and provide a final screenshot of your results as well. 

 

Crack the Code - It's that time again. The Hour of Code has arrived!

Everyone is counting on you to showcase your big project but it looks like you've been hacked! Your arch nemesis has hacked your computer and taken over your program. You have to crack teh code to get it back. Provide screenshots of all codes you cracked to get credit

 

With Targeted Attack: The Game, you are in the driving seat.
