Michael Deem

Assistant Professor of Philosophy/Assistant Director of The Center for Genomic Advocacy

Michael DeemMichael Deem is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy, Assistant Director of The Center for Genomic Advocacy, and Faculty Affiliate of the Genetic Counseling MS program at Indiana State University. At Indiana State, he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in health care ethics and philosophy. Prior to arriving at ISU, Michael served as the 2015-16 Pediatric Ethics and Genomics Fellow at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO. He lives in Terre Haute with his wife, Katerina, and three children.

 

Rusty ​Gonser

Professor/ Director of The Center for Genomic Advocacy

Rusty GonserRusty Gonser is the Director of The Center for Genomic Advocacy at Indiana State University.  Two of the main curricular initiatives for TCGA include a Graduate Certificate in Genomic Advocacy, MS in Genetic Counseling, and undergraduate minor in Genomic Advocacy.  His research has two main  research programs:  aspects of the sexual selection in the polymorphic white-throated sparrow and population genetics of white-tailed deer.

Megan TuckerA genetic counselor is a healthcare professional that helped families adapt to the medical and psychological implications of the genetic contribution to diseases.

 

 

 

 

Jill Turner

Senior Business Development Manager

Jill TurnerJill Turner graduated in 1995 from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology and a minor in Nutrition. She has been working in Medical Sales for the past 14 years in the area of Women's Health. In the past 7 years she has been focused on Genetics in Women's Health. Jill is currently working at NxGen MDx a Genetic Lab she helped start in 2013. NxGen MDx focuses on next generations sequencing technology for genetic testing that will aid patients in decisions about their reproductive journey.
